- Description: Meet Rachel Wilson, the woman bringing the farm to the dive.

Hi! Before we get into the upcoming volunteering posts, I want to tell you about someone doing something *so Philly* and so helpful.

[Wild Heart Farm](https://www.instagram.com/wildheartfarming/?ref=theplatia.com) is a small operation, just Rachel Wilson and her quarter acre of land, but Wilson is reaching people standard farmer's markets are not. She's less about pomp and circumstance and more about what's convenient. It's frankly genius.

“I was working so much that I wasn't able to see my friends,” she said. “I thought, I’d love to see my friends, and make it a social thing.”

Running a farm alone takes up most of her waking hours, and distribution of the produce comes in at a heavy second. Since the way most small farms can sustain is to sell direct to customers, Wilson took that model and created a series of pop-ups tailored to folks who can’t make it to morning farmer’s markets. She’s making produce shopping more accessible to nightlife folks, when they’re already out with their friends.

We love a veg-forward cutie patootie

[The After Hours Produce Club](https://www.afterhoursproduce.com/?ref=theplatia.com) has popped-up at Tattooed Moms, Starbolt, Two Robbers, Sacred Vice and other bars in Philly, during happy hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wilson brings tomatoes, beets, kale, zucchini, and more veggies and fruits grown on her Gilbertsville farm, about an hour outside of Philly, partnering with the bars to create a farmer’s market atmosphere into the evening. Shoppers also get special perks, like extended happy hours or drink discounts. Buying from Wilson at T-Moms will earn you a “mom chip,” which means 50 cents off your drinks for life.

“It’s two small folding tables and a display with produce, and setting up inside the bar, I’m in air conditioning,” she says, laughing.

That simple display is enough to encourage folks to visit the bars on quiet nights. And the best events happen when the bar partner is just as excited about getting out fresh food as she is.

“The whole staff \[at the last pop-up\] told me how busy they were because of the pop-up.”

The next two pop-ups are at bars in Phoenixville, with a third in[ September at American Sardine](https://luma.com/wildheartfarm?utm%5Fsource=ig&utm%5Fmedium=social&utm%5Fcontent=link%5Fin%5Fbio&fbclid=PAcGRvZgJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA85MzY2MTk3NDMzOTI0NTkAAaeUiAqJsjpXPnEvSUL8TgCDm6YLgUPUyDh85SnlCCyyf3rqWWPOLSfFGUBClg%5Faem%5FrWTSFr2llXs4-zmfL0w9jQ&utm%5Fid=97760%5Fv0%5Fs00%5Fe0%5Ftv3&e=evt-lm6nYuur1baPp5P). Wild Heart will continue to post up at [Point Breeze Community Market](https://www.instagram.com/pointbreezecommunitymarket/?ref=theplatia.com) on Thursday afternoons, too. And for Wilson, she’ll be surveying how to continue getting fresh produce to people in unique ways.

“I want to poll people a little bit more and see what the barriers are.” And she’s ever hopeful for that bringing fresh food where people are will encourage them to stay healthy.

## How you can get involved

[Find the After Hours Produce Club calendar here](https://luma.com/wildheartfarm?ref=theplatia.com) to meet Rachel at an event. [And information on the Point Breeze Community Market here](https://www.threads.com/@pointbreezecommunitymarket?ref=theplatia.com).

I was so excited to learn about the After Hours Produce Club that I called Rachel from my only days off, on vacation in Nashville. But I'm back, and that means I'll see you on the street.

**Here's where you can volunteer the next few days.**

I'll be out with Punks with Lunch and Food Not Bombs at our usual location at Mifflin Park, on Wolf and 6th, the next few Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Here, you'll help us give out reclaimed fruit and vegetables, water and food to the community. We will all share hot dogs and other food – because food should be free for everyone - and we'll give you an overdose prevention lesson and some items to take back to your own community. Just show up and find me!

My friends at [The South Philly Community Fridge](https://www.instagram.com/southphlcommunityfridge/?hl=en&ref=theplatia.com) have been asking for assistance, too. They need drivers to help bring food from shops and warehouses to their South Philly Fridges. [Find out more here](https://www.instagram.com/p/DaahDa0OPBV/?hl=en&ref=theplatia.com) and reach out to them to see if your schedule matches up.

The Everywhere Project also really needs hands for their Wednesday night outreach in Love Park in Center City. It's a similar distro to our Friday free lunches, but a much bigger crowd of folks, and they can use both funds and people. They are super organized, but it's very busy and may be best for mutual aid volunteers who have been out before. Find out if this is a good fit for you [by reaching out to them here](https://www.instagram.com/p/DcRBwvAPf76/?ref=theplatia.com).

And as always, [here's the full list of mutual aid food outreach](https://www.theplatia.com/free-food-and-how-to-help-mutual-aid-groups/). And let me know if I can help in any way.
