Knowing your neighbors is proven to reduce fear by turning unknown people into known demographic communities. Because block parties are a great way to meet those neighbors and come together over a common goal, I'm throwing a block party with Block2Block at Prevention Point on April 25th.
To make this a fun, effortless event for attendees, we've got barbers donating their time, public health items for free, and of course, music and food. But we can use some help to secure enough supplies for everyone.
Here's an Amazon list of hygiene items that will go directly toward this event. You know by now that at The Platia we do NOT support Amazon, but since people out-of-state have been asking how to help, this is the easiest path forward. If you are local and can contribute supplies like body wipes, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste and menstrual products, we will happily take those.
We are making food, but could always use more of that too. If you could like to contribute baked goods, grilled items, sandwiches or other portable food items, please reach out to me.
Above all, everyone is invited, so please come out Saturday from noon forward, and make some new friends, welcome Shaquilla to Philly, say hi to our buds at Prevention Point and share a hot dog with me.
We want to make this the best event, to help people have fun as well as get items they need to live, and it's always best when the community can come together to build this out.
